2019 Scholarship Application window is September 1 - November 1, 2019. Applications will be accepted electronically via this web page only (see below for requirements and instructions). Selection Committee will review applications during the month of November and applicants will be notified of award status (yes, no, or alternate) during the first part of December 2019.

Important notes for applicants:
  • The Myrtle & MJ Scholarship is geared towards students pursuing careers in healthcare, education, and community betterment.
  • The Scholarship Foundation believes future leaders will bring resilient, positive, and action-oriented perspectives to the table in large and small ways in their fields and in their communities. Ability to capture a unique adversity experience and demonstrate resonance with Myrtle and/or MJ's bios below are key factors in Selection Committee consideration.
  • Re-applying each year is encouraged! The Selection Committee makes a point of providing specific feedback in notification letters.
  • Past recipients of a Myrtle & MJ Scholarship are also encouraged to apply again and will be considered, however, past recipients may not have received a Scholarship for the prior two years (see criteria below).

The number of Scholarships awarded is determined on a year to year basis depending on fundraising, number of applicants, and quality of applications. To be considered for a Scholarship, an applicant must meet the criteria and requirements below. Each complete application is then reviewed using specific rubric established by the Selection Committee and Board of Directors.
